The Cog Diary

It is not a day or two to feel like a meaningless cog in the machine, a catchy metaphor picked from the awesome TV show, Manhunt: Unabomber . Despite of the allusive justification of the antagonist’s criminal minds, it is a great show charactering a high-functional sociopath that kills people with self-made bombs with the excuse of exposing the rooted evils in the modern society.

But that phrase stands, a cog that matters no more less. Stuck with a job that could be missed no more, and runs the groundhog-day cycle of sleep, wake-up, eat, work and sleep again. A typical cog life with the pretense of being normal.

The cog dreams of change sometimes. What will a different cog feel like? A sense of gain and a real feeling of being alive, which seem distant in the fading memories. Will the sense of meaning make a new cog? A shiny one that never rusts? Whether the significance of being makes one resistant to tear and wear. These questions only reside in the its simple mind, without being answered by any cog alike.

At one moment of its groundhog day, the cog lets out a deep sigh, numbing the wakening soul and returning to the drag of life.
