Visiting the Dwarika is a religious experience.
I was not informed enough to stay overnight at the Dwarika, but my half-day trip was inspiring enough for me to write the following words.
The Dwarika was located in the mountains of suburban Kathmandu, which took about one hours’ drive to get there from the central valley. Constructed for the purpose of preserving Newari traditional wood carvings, the Dwarika serves as an excellent example of social good business that integrates culture, religion and tourism.
The living signs of Newari wood crafts could be seen everywhere inside the Dwarika, welcoming guests at the lobby, decorating the surroundings in the hallway and nesting with the guests in their bedroom. The rescued symbols of Newari art fits harmoniously with the convenience of modernized facilities and the spirituality of religious atmosphere.
Facing the panoramic Himalayas, veiled by clouds and trees in summer, the top of the Dwarika is also the apex of the ubiquitous harmony of nature and human, art and religion, tranquillity and peace. Resting at the swings on the top ground, gazing into the vastness of mountains, and hearing the restless winds, I could think of nothing but let go all my worldly thoughts.
And the pool of infinity, a must-see for all visitors. The full-moon shaped pool stands at the edge of the hill and looks into the depth of Himalayan views. It is a soundless pool without flowing water but still currents. Stillness is infinity.
In the Gol lok Dham Lounge, the glass-walled shelter at the heart of the Himalayas, the guest is welcomed by the abundance of verdant mountain views in summery days. How can the guest take a moment of self-centred ease, while deep-diving into the break-taking scenery, the masterly Newari décor and the unparalleled service?
Being miles apart and typing these nostalgic texts, I could hear the sound of the Dwarika’s music with my awakened soul.

Note: There are pros and cons about when to visit. The grass is not so green in winter and spring (until May), but the mountain views are clearer, while it’s cloudy mostly in the monsoon summer days. Anyway, the Dwarika would not let you down in any time! No business connection.
